The project involves urban regeneration of the historical Pesenti cement factory in Alzano Lombardo through the recovery and valorization of the unique nineteenth-century industrial archaeology context, for educational and cultural purposes aimed at its transformation into a school complex. The monumental building is divided into main parts, walkways, 12 vertical ovens, 6 circular chimneys, large vaulted spaces and supported by Doric-style columns. Its location is strategic: nearby A4 motorway, airport, Tramway stop in front of the factory and a multistorey car park. From a disused factory into a ‘forge of knowledge’.
Alzano Lombardo, a municipality in the province of Bergamo, is steeped in history with Roman origins. Its architectural landmarks, such as the Church of San Martino, showcase its rich heritage.
