The textile/clothing sector plays a key role in the local economy. The province boasts the presence of three districts: Bassa Bresciana clothing, Bassa Bresciana leatherworking and footwear and Castel Goffredo – footwear. Growth in the sector has been boosted by the fact that leading textile and clothing tool manufacturers are based in the area and by a first-class fashion school (Istituto Machina Lonati).
